Making pattern fills from fabric swatches

- [Instructor] In this movie, I'm going to show you how to take a swatch that you have in photographed or scanned or maybe found an image of online, how to take it and put it into an Illustrator pattern repeat. So, here I've got a denim swatch, and you'll find this in the Assets folder. But if I were to take this and put it into repeat in Illustrator, it wouldn't be in perfect repeat, and that's because it's a random piece of denim. So, what I'm going to do is show you how to put it into repeat in Photoshop, and then we'll bring it into Illustrator. What we need to do is use the offset filter. We need to change this from a background layer, so we'll double-click and make it layer zero. And then we're going to go Filter, Other, Offset. And I did this already, so let's put this back to zero. The offset filter's going to open up like this, and the easiest thing to do is grab the upper left-hand corner and drag straight into the center.
