Introducing variable fonts

- [Instructor] In this movie we'll take our first look at the world of variable fonts. Now a variable font is a single font file that contains hundreds or even thousands of possible style variations. Now, this is fairly recent technology. It was first introduced in 2016 and it's a joint venture of basically everybody of Apple, Google, Microsoft and Adobe. And one of the great things about the latest version of Illustrator is that it presently ships with a handful of variable fonts built into it. And to see what those look like I'll go ahead and click on the down pointing arrowhead associated with the font option. Again, if you're not seeing it then click on the word character and then click on it's down pointing arrowhead, but I'm going to go ahead and click on this guy right here and then I'll go ahead and scroll to the top of the list to my recently used fonts.
