How to use opacity masks in Illustrator

- Hi there, welcome back to another edition of Creative Quick Tips. My name is Justin Seeley and today we're talking about Adobe Illustrator. And more specifically, how we can use something called an Opacity Mask inside of Illustrator to blend raster-based objects into our vector illustrations. So, in this image that I have here, what I want to do is basically fade the image into the background, here inside of Illustrator. Now I know I could take this over into Photoshop, and I could create a Layer Mask, and could round-trip it back over. But that's a whole lot of work for just something very simple. All I want is for this photo to fade as it goes up the page, like this. So, how do I do that? First things first, I need to create a rectangle the exact size of this image. So I'll do that, something kind of like that. And then you need to create a Gradient. So we'll add a Gradient fill to this.
