Exporting icons
- In our final chapter we're going to talk about exporting our icons out of Illustrator in different file formats and different sizes. I want to start by talking about some of the general export capabilities that Illustrator has. And talking about how we can set our files up to take advantage of them. Now I'm going to be honest with you, Illustrator has some shortcomings when it comes to exporting out multiple versions of the same file. For example, inside our hruns icons file here which I've opened up from the 04_01 directory, we have four detailed icons designed for larger sizes. And then on Layers, we also have the smaller version of the icons as well. So it's really eight total icons on four different Artboards. And we use the combination of Artboards and Layers to organize our icons. That's a pretty standard approach to designing icons inside of Illustrator.
