Exporting files for use in Word/Excel/PowerPoint

Often you may intend to take artwork that you have designed inside of Illustrator and place it inside the Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel or even PowerPoint. While the Microsoft Office applications do allow the ability to place EPS content, which is PostScript, the unfortunate reality is that most people who need to print those files don't have PostScript printers. So if you need to export artwork for use inside of Microsoft Office, you might want to go to the File menu and use this feature called Save for Microsoft Office. When you choose that option, it actually creates a PNG file, which is a raster-based image. However, it does so with a high-def resolution, so that the file will print correctly.

Since PNG supports transparency, you are able to take your artwork that you create inside of Illustrator and have it blend nicely into backgrounds that may already exist inside of your PowerPoint slides.
