Join Von Glitschka for an in-depth discussion in this video Drawing the side feathers in vectors, part of Illustrator: Digitizing and Refining Sketches.
- So anytime you can speed up your build process…by using what I call shape-building,…I think it's a good thing.…And we're gonna focus on a couple of shapes here…that I think are gonna be easily built using…the shape-building method.…And shape-building is nothing more than using basic shapes…whether it's a square, circle, rectangle, whatever,…and in this case, we're using the Ellipse tool,…and I'm just creating my art using these Shape Tools.…
And the reason why I'm doing this,…I could build it point by point,…just click, click, click, but…looking at my photo reference for the real thing…for how these headdresses actually are in real life,…they have the side here, I'm not sure…what they call this on the headdress,…what the part is called.…We'll call it a medallion.…It's almost a perfect circle so…I kinda want this a little more exact…than what building it point by point would give me…so that's why I'm using a Circle Tool so…it's not always clean in terms of the build process,…but it's gonna give us what we want…
