Drawing a shape layer with the Pen tool

- [Instructor] In this movie, I'll show you how to draw a shape layer directly using the Pen tool. And we're going to use this layer to cover up details in a photographic image. And so in this case, we're looking at a classic hovering head effect, that I created for Deke's Techniques Number 559, which fell on Halloween of 2016. Now of course, this model has a neck, and you can see it by pressing the Alt key, or the Option key on a Mac, and clicking on the eye icon in front of the background, here inside the layers panel. And so what I did was, I added this black shape layer in order to cover up the top section of her neck, and then I used another vector-based shape layer to create this strangely-glowing hole. Alright, so we'll start off inside this image, which comes to us from the Dreamstime Image Library, which includes raw photographs, by the way, that have never been edited, which can be an extremely useful thing, for those of you who are skilled inside Photoshop.
