Drawing a leather smart phone case

- In this movie we're going to create this leather smartphone case, and then we're going to put our iPhone into the case. I'll start off by turning my guides layer back on so that I can see where I need to position these various objects here. And then I'll go ahead and click on that rounded rectangle to select it. Now I want to copy the rectangle to the center of my artboard, and I'm going to do so by dragging its centerpoint. Now one of the great things about Illustrator, and it's been this way forever, is that you can drag the selected object even when it's covered up by other objects as we're seeing here. And so if I drag that selected centerpoint, I'll move the selected object without disturbing anything in front of it. And now I'll go ahead and move my cursor to the intersection of these two guidelines, and then I'll press the alt key, or the opt key on the Mac, so I can make a copy of this object, and then I'll release my mouse button to drop it into place.
