Drawing a basic balloon
- Illustrator makes drawing circles as easy as pie, but in order to create a convincing, natural looking comic book word balloon shape. We're going to have to do battle with computer's natural tendency to make everything a little too perfect. So the first thing we want to do when creating a balloon, create a new layer for our balloons. Click the new layer button. Double click it, rename it Balloons. The other thing I like to do is this yellow color that it uses, it's just a little bit tough to see. Double click on that layer, set the color to something a little more visible. Orange, that should do. And then we want to move the balloon layer down underneath our lettering, because we don't want our balloons on top of our lettering. We want them behind them. So scooch it down so it's not on top of lettering, but right below it till that line shows up. Then we'll get our helpful Illustrator Perfect Oval tool. And go to the center of our block of text here. Hold down Option to draw from…
