Join Deke McClelland for an in-depth discussion in this video Custom symbols and page ornaments, part of Adobe Pen Tool: Mastery.
- [Instructor] In this chapter, we'll turn our attention…to InDesign, and for starters, we'll take a look…at creating custom symbols and page ornaments.…And by way of example, I have this clover leaf character…right here, which represents the Command key…on a Macintosh keyboard.…Now, the thing about this character is that…it's not commonly available in your everyday, average font,…and to show you what I mean, we're going to take a look…at a screenshot that I made on the Mac,…here inside Photoshop.…And, incidentally, if you're a PC user and you decide…to open this image along with me,…you're going to get a font warning.…
It's nothing to worry about, however,…and that's because Photoshop always…saves the pixel-based version of each and every character…of type, whether you have access to the font or not.…So here we are looking at InDesign's Glyphs panel,…and you can get to it by going to the Type menu…and choosing the Glyphs command,…and notice we're looking at the Command key character…right here, inside the font Lucida Grande.…
