- [Voiceover] In this movie, I'll demonstrate…how to work with the Zig Zag filter,…and you may recall we first saw Zig Zag…when I was showing you how to add a kind of grassy effect…to the Angry Bird graphic back in chapter 23,…and we ended up going with Roughen,…but we saw Zig Zag on the way, and so this time around…we're gonna use it to spike the flower petals…in order to create this kind of Origami effect,…and I just love this part of the project.…I think you will too.…All right, so the first thing I'm gonna do…is click out here in the petals…in order to select the rear of the two circle,…and you can tell it's the rear one…because it has a total of eight anchor points,…you might be able to just barely make that out,…and it has a ton of fills here inside the Appearance panel,…so make sure the Path is selected…and you can go ahead and twirl close…any fills that are open by the way,…and then go up to the Effect menu,…choose Distort & Transform, and choose Zig Zag,…and then you can go ahead and turn on the Preview checkbox…

5/27/2016The techniques are grounded in hands-on projects that give you experience with real-world uses for Illustrator, from converting hand-drawn artwork to vector graphics with tracing and creating logos with the Transform tools, to creating compelling artwork with nothing but the Appearance panel. Along the way, Deke touches on layers and stacking order interactions, patterns and gradients, scaling, dynamic effects, Live Paint, and Recolor Artwork. Plus, learn how to place photos in your design and edit images without leaving Illustrator, and set your documents up for effective printing.
As Creative Cloud evolves, so will we. Check back every time Illustrator updates for new videos, new feature reviews, and new ways to work.
