- Alright, now the final thing you can do by combining a modifier key along with the arrow tools, specifically the White Arrow, is convert a smooth point into a cusp point. Now, we already saw this in a couple of movies in the previous chapter, but we're visiting the topic once again because it works slightly differently in each one of the three applications. So as you may recall, the idea is that we want to position one control handle independently of another, and thereby convert a smooth point into a cusp. Now ultimately it works the same way in all three applications. On the PC, you alt-drag a control handle with the White Arrow tool. And on the Mac, you press the Option key and drag a control handle again with the White Arrow. The thing is we have different caveats for each one of the three applications. In the case of Illustrator, you need to press the Alt or Option key before you begin dragging. If you press and hold the key after, you'll create a clone. So let me show you what…
