Creating PDF proofs

- Being a letterer means working within a larger team of artists and editors. Beyond design skills, you'll also need to know the technical aspects of delivering your work to the client, creating proofs, and making sure the final files present your work exactly as you envisioned it. When you're done lettering a story, the first step is to send proofs to the writer or editor. Pdf is the industry standard, and they're easy to make from Illustrator. So, you finish lettering a page. We've made our corrections. We've double-checked our work. We're ready to send a proof to the editor or to the writer of the comic, so they can read it over and make sure everything's exactly the way they want it. So, what you want to do is send them a pdf. It's really easy to do. Just go to File, Save As, and choose pdf. Now, Illustrator default settings will work just fine. You can hit Save Pdf, and you're all set.
