Creating a 3D coin

Today we're going to create a three dimensional coin. Three dimensional so that you can twirl it around, see it from any angle, and do anything you want to it because it is a 3D object. And what the coin is going to be a quarter, like the one we see on the screen. And I started out by taking two quarters and scanning them on the flatbed scanner. We see the result on the screen right there, the head and the tail. Using the Elliptical Marquee tool, I went in there and selected each one of them and sent to their own individual files. Here it is in its own layer, with no background, and then here with the tail.

Which I also did a rotate 180 on it so that it would be upside down like a real quarter. The two sides are opposite each other. So that was my start. Let's go back here and let's start to create our coin. I'm going to deselect that selection there. And I'm going to pick a gray right from the quarter itself. Like right there. Just midtone right in there, which became my foreground ...
