- [Instructor] This week, I want to look at one of the pieces from the new painting that I'm working on, called The Dome, which is a scene in Paris. Now, this is one of the lamp posts that are in that scene. I'm going to zoom in real close, real close to this area here. So you can see that there are some stickers and stuff that have been left on this pole from before and some that have been ripped off already and so on. So we're going to do is we're going to put another sticker on here. Now what I've done are these are all things that I've done in the past that I decided to just use 'em and put 'em on here as leftover stickers. So what's going to happen is here's that piece we did last week. So what I'm going to do is this is going to be our little sign. So I'm going to go in there and let's just switch this back to black and white here. And I'm going to go ahead and flatten this image. I'm going to say go ahead and flatten it. Now I'm going to increase the canvas size. I'm going to go in there and say image, canvas size, and let's increase it. So this will be 12 point, say 12.5, so we'll make it 13, 13 by eight, and let's make it nine, right there, click okay and there we see that we have this nice little white border around it. Okay, so now, that's going to be our little label. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to select all, and I'm going to copy, command C, there we go. So now I go over to my street light here and I make sure we're way in the front, right here. I have a comp on top, which is the one that gets brought over to the painting, and we're going to put it right down in here. It's going to go, let's say, let's put it on the big part, right down here. So I'm going to go ahead and paste now, there it is. So now, that guy back here has a much higher resolution than this thing we created last week, but that's okay, doesn't matter. I'm going to go in there and shrink it down. And it's going to be about that size right there, and we're going to put it right about here and rotate it just a little bit like that. Okay, so now, what's going to happen is I'm going to go in here and start to bend this just a little bit. So I'm going to select this section right here, right through here, right there like that, and I'm going to just give it a little bit of a, I'm going to go into my selection and say, select and mask, I'm going to go in there and, I got a little selection, and I'm going to say feather it a little bit, just so I get a little softening, right there like that. Okay, and there's this little thing. And what I'm going to do now is I'm going to go in there and hit command + T and just kind of bring that up, just a little bit, just like that, see. There we go, click okay and it's going around that little corner, right there like that. So now, we got to do is kind of mess it up, like it is over there. So now that little side, let's undo that selection, there it is. So that side's a little darker there. So what's going to happen is I'm going to go in there and darken that. So I'm going to go in and we could do it the brute force, with hue saturation and just going to go in there and darken that little corner, right there like that, see. So it's right around that corner. Click okay, deselect, and there you can see, that thing is around the edge there. So now what's going to happen is I'm going to go in there and start to rip it up, so get closer. Now, as we rip it up, we're going to see the edges of the paper, so what I'm going to do is I'm going to give it a little tiny drop shadow. So we go into the layer styles and we'll call this M and B, M and W, M and W, right. So, we're going to go in there and give it a little tiny drop shadow, little drop shadow, no satin, but a little drop shadow and it's going to be really tiny, distance of about one, size of about two, so it's just a little shadow, right under there, okay. And then, I'm going to give it a little inner shadow, right there like this and this one we're going to make white. And set this up to normal, so we're going to get this little thing here and we're going to make that really small, one and two. Right, now we don't see it yet, but we're going to see it in a few minutes. Now the reason is because this color is printed on top of a paper and as it starts to get ripped up, you're going to start to see the thickness of that paper coming through. So now we start to rip it up. So what I'm going to do is in a mask, right here, a mask. And in the mask, with black, I'm going to take my paintbrush, I'm going to choose one of the spatter brushes. Okay, we got a whole bunch of them right up here. And I'm going to say the 39, right there, that's going to be perfect. So now, what it does, is just does that. Let's set it to 100% and just goes in there and erases like that. But we want it to be a little rougher. So I'm going to go into my brush engine where I'm going to give a little spacing, shape dynamics, a little size jitter, and the angle jitter, all the way around, see, so it starts to give it that little difference so they don't look like a solid brush. And then I start to go in there and start to erase, just little pieces and what I'm doing is I'm just giving it that little tiny, here's a little tear, right through here. And I can make it smaller, so I can get harder edges, if I want. And it would just give it a little tear right in here, just like that, and we'll give it some tears over here. And a little tear right in there. And then we'll bring down the opacity to about a 20%, and then we could just dirty it up, see. Now we're just dirtying the whole thing up, there we go. So now that white highlight, that little inner shadow, let's go in there and bring that opacity up. See, there it is, and we'll make it even brighter, there we go, so there you could see that little edges of the paper showing through, right in there like that. Click okay and we could just go in there and start to rip a couple of other pieces. Go back into the shadow, and with black but just kind of go in here and let's bring the opacity back up to 90, and I just hit the nine on the keyboard to bring it to that. And there we can see that I'm getting these nice little extra tears here and there to make this look like it has been ripped up. Pull back a little bit and there you can see we have our little sign. Now, some leftover ones from way before, what I'll do in here is I'll just select a nice little square, right here, like that. So what I'll do is I'll take paint, right here and I kind of just paint, right inside this area here. Just go into a new layer and we just kind of give it a little paint and we'll do it white. Little white, right in there like this. Little white, deselect and there you can see where's the remnants of some previous sign that was ripped off and there you can see how these particular little stickers were put on the pole as it travels through its daily life of being exposed to thousands of people passing by and leaving little signs.
