Create a gradient mesh
- [Instructor] Let's see how we can use the gradient mesh tool, in ways that it really wasn't intended to be used. I'm going to apply it to an image. Now I have on the left my control image for comparison purposes, and it's the one on the right that we'll be converting to a mesh. So I'm going to select it and then come to the object menu and choose create gradient mesh, which is just a grid. And I want my number of rows and columns to be suggested by the aspect ratio of the image. The image is at a two to three aspect ratio, so for its short side I'm going to have 32, two times 16, and for its long side, three times 16, 48. That's the result that we get, now I've chosen an image that's kind of iconic, really, and even once you've abstracted it to such a degree, it's still going to be recognizable for what it is. It does require some clean up, so what I'm going to do is come and choose my gradient mesh tool, and then click on the mesh. And then I'll zoom in, and I have a number of…
