- Now that the palm tree has taken shape, let's use the ellipse tool to create coconuts. You can access the ellipse tool by heading to the toolbar, and clicking and holding on the rectangle tool until the hidden tools will appear. From here, select the ellipse tool. You can also press the letter L on your keyboard to bring up the ellipse tool. With the ellipse tool selected, click and drag your cursor on the art board to create an ellipse of the size and the shape that you wish. Hold the shift key while dragging to transform the ellipse into a perfect circle and resize it proportionally. Then release, and press the letter V on your keyboard to access the selection tool. Select the circle, and hold alt and Windows option on the Mac while dragging to create a duplicate. Let's do it again to create another copy.
