Converting a selection to a path outline
- [Instructor] In this movie, I'll show you how to convert a pixel-based selection outline to a vector-based path outline. And this is essentially an example of auto tracing technology. And so for those of you who watched the entirety of the previous movie, you know that we've traced everything but the right side of the swim trunks using the pen tool, and so just by way of demonstration, I'll switch to the paths panel, I'll click on the partial outline path, and I'll go ahead and select the black arrow tool, and I'll click on the path outline in order to select it. And so notice that the only missing area is this region right here as well as the inside of this toe, which we'll come to in just a moment. All right, because these swim trunks are so very roughly, it's going to take an awful lot of anchor points in order to trace them, but this edge is also pretty darn random, which means that we can get away with converting a selection to a path outline, and the reason I say get away with…
