Learn how to use all the vector information when closing paths with Astute Graphics VectorScribe, including direction handles on path endpoints, which are ignored by Illustrator alone.
- [Instructor] Another unique feature of VectorScribe…is the ability to use all the vector information…when closing paths.…Let me show you what I mean by that.…In our Exercise File, we have this rounded corner rectangle.…And if I select one of the corner segments…with the direct selection tool,…I can see the two handles that create this rounding.…Here and here.…And now if I press the Delete key,…that segment goes away and I have an open path.…But notice if I select one of the endpoints…of this open path, I can see that it still has the handle…that was creating the curve.…
And the same goes for the other endpoint.…Those handles are still part of the vector information…that makes up this path.…But if I now wanted to close the path…and restore the rounded corner,…I can't really do that with Illustrator alone…because by itself Illustrator won't use the information…in those direction handles.…If I select both endpoints…and choose Object, Path, Join,…you see that I get a beveled corner.…
The direction handles were ignored and removed.…
