- Hi, my name is Bert Monroy and welcome to the making of Amsterdam Mist. Amsterdam Mist is a painting that took me 22 months to create. And for me, the main challenge was to create that mood of the atmosphere. A foggy day in fall in Amsterdam. To give you the feeling that it's moist and that it's gloomy and kind of overcast. And that's what was important to me. And there were many techniques that went into it. The creation of the environment itself and the atmosphere. The trees and all these different elements that make up the scene. On this the final volume of the making of Amsterdam Mist, we're going to talk about the vehicles.
The vehicles being the cars, the trucks, the boats and the bicycles, of which in Amsterdam you see many bicycles. You're going to see how the cars, the hubcaps were created. How the windshields, you can see through them to see the interior of the car and the reflections on those windshields, of the trees and buildings around them. You're going to see how the boats have a tarp on top of them and how the water that's built up inside of that boat was created. And then the bicycles. There's over four dozen bicycles in that image.
And they're all basically from the three that you see in the front. A little change here in the color. A little change in the main frame and the handlebars gave us all the variety that you see so that no two bicycles look the same. All these techniques might come in handy for many things you might be faced with. So it's not exactly what I'm doing, it's how I'm doing it. Because if you pick up on those techniques, you'll start to learn all the things that Photoshop has to offer for you. So let's go in there and see how these things were created.
