Basic guide options

- [Instructor] Grids are made up of guides and in this movie I'll go over the basics of working with guides. Guides are non-printing visual aids that can help you align elements. To add guides you must first turn on the rulers. If you don't see your rulers come to View, Rulers, Show Rulers. Or use the keyboard shortcut cmd or ctrl + r. You can change the unit displayed on the rulers by right-clicking at their intersection top left. I'm going to leave mine at Inches. You can also change the zero point. Currently this reflects the top left hand corner of my artboard, but if I want my coordinates to be measured from somewhere else on the ruler I can move into the ruler intersection, drag down, and you can see the zero point is now changed. I'm going to set it back how it was by double-clicking at the ruler intersection. I should also mention that I have a bleed guide in red outside of my artboard. And this is so that if I want elements printed to the edge of my page for safety I continue…
