Join Bert Monroy for an in-depth discussion in this video Assembling the basic shapes for a bike, part of The Making of Amsterdam Mist: The Vehicles.
- In creating these bikes, it is important…to get realism.…I wanted things that were fairly accurate.…I could go to my neighbor and say,…"Hey, can I photograph your bike,…"so that I could use it in my painting?"…But what if that bike wasn't made in Europe,…or never made it to Europe?…Now the three in the front, those are pretty easy…because they were right there in my original photograph.…The bike on the far right,…that's the part that you see of it.…There's the one in the middle and the one on the far left.…Now, what's going on here is that I actually…had to go and do research…because there's all these other bikes…that are all the way back here…which would totally, you couldn't see anything…but little tiny blurs, the indication of a bike…in my original photograph.…
But I needed some accuracy,…so I actually did a lot of research on that.…Right here we'll go to bridge, we'll see that…I did a search for European bicycles…and specifically, I looked at Dutch bicycles…and German bicycles,…bicycles that were in the general vicinity of Amsterdam…
