Join Tony Harmer for an in-depth discussion in this video Adding endpoints and dashed lines to your strokes, part of Illustrator CC 2018 Essential Training.
- [Man] So let's take a look at some more stroke options.…I'm working in this file,…which has a few different strokes in it,…so there's one at the top here connected to the text…and a couple down here and then this one on the star.…So, the first thing we'll look at in terms of our strokes,…now that we know about stroke weight,…are the end caps.…And I'll start that off with the big line at the top here.…I'm just going to zoom in on that line like so…so you can see at least one end of the stroke, there we go,…nice and big just there.…
And I'm going to click in the properties panel…the stroke hyperlink to access the stroke panel.…So, by default, the cap, which is the part of the line…drawn on the end parts the vector here…is set to back cap…so it finishes flush with the vector.…Next to that, we have a round cap…and what that does is it takes half the line width there…as a radius and then spins that around at the end, like so.…
Then there's a square cap…and that takes half of the width of the line…and adds it onto the end as a cap.…
