- Discovering new ways to leverage drawing in order to be creative can be an artist's greatest asset. So let me share with you how Sean Ferguson uses his drawings to communicate in a fun way. Sean is an animator and illustrator based out of Oklahoma. I've known him for a few years but I love the character art he creates. He does both digital and traditional illustration, but it's his digital illustration that I really like his process. So I wanted to share his process of how he utilizes initial drawings and he continues to refine as he builds out his characters. These are two kind of ninja characters. One's a rooster and one's a pig. He calls them Cluck and Katsu. So Japanese-inspired names, they're kind of like ninjas. This is his initial character sketches and then the next one I'm going to show you will be his refined line work. So he goes in and he starts tightening things up and refining the shape and drawing the form to greater exactitude so it looks exactly the way he intends…
