- So how did your idiom drawing come out? Have you shown it to anyone to see if they understand the message? Let me show you the idioms I picked to draw. The two idioms I started out with was don't cry over spilled milk, and a penny for your thoughts. Now these are thumbnail sketches, I picked a cow bawling his head off for the don't cry over spilled milk, and a guy inserting a penny into his head, much like a piggy bank, to represent a penny for your thoughts. I just change the orientation of the cow by scanning it in and flipping it, and it was from this rough sketch that I inked out my final artwork that you can see here. Now, I'm pretty picky, I didn't like the way I'd drawn the ears the first time, so I redrew them again, and when I scan this in I'm going to Photoshop those together so that I can use my trusty Copic pens and ink out the final don't cry over spilled milk.
