- [Instructor] Life with known errors, duct tape solutions, or even work arounds can start to feel okay after a while, especially after you become numb to using them for so long. But let me tell you the story of the factory with the leaky pipe. You see, during a plant visit, an engineer looked up and asked, "What's that?" To which the response was simply, "Oh, that's our pipe. It used to leak so we duct taped it." The engineer followed and then pointed and asked, "But then what's that?" "Oh, well the duct tape cracked at specific spots and we had a really slow leak. So we put a bucket under it." The questions and answers repeated a few times until the engineer learned about and wrote an article about the issues with the temporary workarounds that had become permanent by way of a duct taped pipe that leaks into a bucket, that gets pumped out when full, through yet another pipe outdoors, which then has a gravel…
