- [Instructor] Ideally, flow is completely free, but in real life, flow is interrupted mostly by the following types of ways shown here. As an IT example, consider your release and deployment processes. How many of these blockers to flow do you see in evidence in your organization? Think of your most recent release or deployment. How many handoffs and inspections did it entail? How much waiting time? How much of this was really necessary? Here we see the definition of demand. Consumer demand triggers work to be carried out in a pull system. Since variation in demand can also impact flow, it is crucial to set up and continuously improve your system to manage variations in demand and to ensure it is capable of carrying out work as demanded.
