Baselines

Baselines

- [Instructor] Do you have, for all key technology configuration items, baselines and interim snapshots for reference and restore points? How about for services and processes? Are such baselines available and in use for improvement for technologies, service, and processes? The answers to these questions may lead to some actions you need to take. Let's look at an example of how we might apply the concept of baselines. We'll apply the third way here, lower barriers and increase enablers. List your services and processes and technologies for each indicating baseline state, has and does not have. For those where baselines are missing, you have a clear action. As for example, not having a baseline for comparison will be a barrier for troubleshooting and not having a baseline to restore to will certainly hinder the time it takes to restore to a known good state in the event of a need to back out for example a change.
