- [Instructor] You might have heard of robo-advising, but what is it? Well, in a nutshell, robo-advising is really just using automated and digital techniques to go through and build and manage a portfolio for an investor. Usually, this is done with what are called exchange-traded-funds. Now, if you're not familiar with ETFs or the investing landscape and you want to learn more, I recommend my Understanding Capital Markets course here on LinkedIn Learning. Essentially, what a robo-advisor does mechanically is fairly simple at this stage. The robo-advisor provides the client with a survey that assesses the client's needs, their risk tolerance, and profiles them in general. From there, the robo-advisor uses that survey and the responses to it to come up with a basic allocation.
