- [Instructor] Wireless networks present a special opportunity for attackers to eavesdrop on communications by tapping into an organization's network. Wired networks use network cables embedded in walls to carry data signals between devices. In order for an attacker to snoop on a wired network, he or she must either break into a device on the network or gain physical access to the network cables or components. Wireless networks, on the other hand, use radio waves to carry signals and those radio waves may be found throughout the building and in surrounding areas. It's not uncommon for a building's wireless signal to leak out into parking lots and surrounding buildings. You've probably witnessed this when using a smartphone in a public place.
