- [Instructor] Snow's not for everyone, but for those who love winter, the first snow of the year is a special day snowboarders, skiers, and kids that want to build snowmen and go sledding all love that first snow of the season. So let's take a look at some snowy statistics. In New York City, the earliest ever snowfall was on October 21, that was in 1952. For a number of other eastern cities, the earliest snow date on record was on October 10, 1979. On that day it snowed in Boston, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Washington DC. October 10 seems very early for snow, but for some midwestern cities, October 10 might seem like a late first snow. Cleveland's earliest snowfall was on October 2 in 2003. Minneapolis St. Paul September 24, 1985. Farther west, you'll find Denver, their earliest snowfall September 3, 1961 and while Fairbanks, Alaska might seem like a sure winner with a first snowfall on August 29, 1922, the folks in Great Falls Montana have them beat with a date of August 22 in…
