- Numerous technology trends are also driving the transformation of business models across a range of verticals. We're in the process right now of giving the world a digital nervous system made up of cognitive objects, what we're calling the Internet of Things. In the last two decades, more than six billion devices have come online. And by the end of this year, different surveys project this number to be somewhere between 26 billion and 100 billion.
