What you should know

- [Instructor] Here's what you should know before you take this course. You should have a working knowledge of how to use Microsoft Office products. Namely Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Those are the only applications required for this course. I want to emphasize that you do not need to be a superuser of these products. You just need to be comfortable using them. When it comes to the statistics and data part, I will show you how to do that in Excel. If you happen to know statistical software like R or SAS, you will be able to understand how to do the same things in those applications as well. If you want to get in the mood for this course, two other optional courses you might want to see are Designing Big Data Healthcare Studies, parts One and Two, which are other courses by me. Since this course you are taking now is about experimental design, I thought some of you might be interested in learning other study designs that are not experiments, which is what I teach in these two courses. Well, that's all you need to know to benefit from this course, but what also matters is your personal experience that you bring to the course. So, welcome. I hope you enjoy going through all our different activities and learning about experimental design. I also hope your experience in this course gives you a lot of great ideas for the future. So, are you ready? Let's get started.
