What you should know

- [Instructor] So what should you know to understand more about cloud complexity management? Well, we're going to make an assumption, the enterprise is either currently in a complexity crisis or entering a complexity crisis. Also, that there is a desire to change. So, we're assuming that we already feel the pinch of what cloud complexity is causing in terms of inefficiencies and our ability to leverage our cloud based resources. And we're also willing to make changes in terms of ways of reducing the complexity. So what skills do you need? Well, you need to understand cloud architecture. The basics of how things are configured. How databases storage compute components, all work and play well together in the world of public and private cloud computing. Need to understand data architecture. How databases are leveraged and built in the cloud. You need to understand service design. APIs, your ability to access behavior through well defined interfaces that are basically bound to databases and bound to applications. Need to know security design and technology, just the basics. What security is, what enabling technology do we use? Need to understand governance design and technology. Again, just the basics. And finally, you need to have some business skills. While this is a pretty technical course, this also relates back to the business needs and it's a good idea for you to understand those needs and understand how the business relates to everything we're going to be talking about in this course.
