What is AI?
- [Instructor] So what is AI? On simple terms, artificial intelligence is really just a part of the computer science discipline. It's a field in computer science focused on automating intelligent behavior. Now, of course, that definition's a little disconcerting, right because what exactly is intelligence? That's a tough question to answer. The reality is that we don't have a specific definition for intelligence, but certainly we'd like to see any kind of AI of flexible responses to different situations, versus mechanical behavior, right. If the AI does exactly the same thing in every set of circumstances and it never adapts, we can't really call it AI. It's not intelligent. Moreover, AI has to be able to adapt to ambiguous, or contradictory messages. This is particularly true when we think about natural language programming.
