- [Instructor] Microsoft Windows Server 2019 allows us to create a couple of different disk types when we add storage to a server. The first and by default is the basic disk type and the second is dynamic. Let's take a look at some of the features of a basic disk. To start with we can format a partition or multiple partitions. We can mark partitions as active and that allows us to use those partitions in our operating system. We can create and delete primary and extended partitions. And everything that we see here we can also do with a dynamic disk. Additional features of dynamic disks, we can create and delete logical drives and convert our basic disk to a dynamic disk. There's not a lot that we can do with basic disks but it does get the job done. Let's take a look at what we can do with a dynamic disk. We can create and extend volumes, we can create or break a mirrored volume. This allows us to have some redundancy. We can extend simple or spanned volumes, and repairing partitions…
