Verification and validation testing

- [Instructor] The intent of your test is to ensure that the application can function as expected without breaking or throwing unexpected errors while still meeting all of your requirements. In order to do all of that, you'll want to execute verification and validation tests. Now those two words, verification and validation, have specific meanings to a CSSLP. When you perform verification testing, your goal is to answer the question; Does the app work the way it's supposed to work? Verification testing measures how well the app performs. Validation testing on the other hand measures how well the app adheres to the design specifications. In other words, does it meet all of the functional and nonfunctional requirements? Consider an e-commerce app that processes credit card data, a verification test you would likely perform would be to purchase something with a valid credit card number.
