- [Instructor] The privacy community, which includes auditors, media, activists, even your customers, will not simply take you at your word. They will, in a way, use a slogan from the state of Missouri, which is "Show me." A key to winning customer trust and demonstrating regulatory compliance is proof that customers have control over their data and how you use that data. Sandwiched between the skepticism is confusion. Many customers simply do not understand what data companies have about them and how that data is used. This lack of context breeds distrust. There are two approaches to help solve this problem. First, dashboards. I call this the thermometer approach. Second, settings. I call this the thermostat approach.
