- [Instructor] So far we have discussed the public and private clouds. Let's talk about using the hybrid cloud for application deployment. What is a hybrid cloud? As the name implies, a hybrid cloud is a computing environment that connects a company's on-premise private cloud to the public cloud as a single infrastructure. Many of the hybrid cloud offerings are based on containers. Containers are lightweight, more flexible way of dividing computing infrastructure than virtual machines. Containers can have a lighter footprint than virtual machines because they do not need to install a full copy of the operating system. Instead, they rely on the host operating system virtualization functions to provide the application code with an isolated environment.
