- [Instructor] The goal of an experiment is typically to figure out the best way to maximize conversions. But let's stop and think about the word conversion for a moment. When I was a little girl, my grandfather sold some boutique health products. He didn't have many customers, mostly family and friends. But when we go to his sales meetings, they would talk about making a list of leads or potential customers. And then going to visit the leads and demonstrate the product. If the lead bought the product, they would convert to a customer. So a conversion was basically a customer buying something, a sale and that's pretty easy to track. Fast forward, now I'm an adult, and we have the internet. The internet is interesting, because when you buy something on the internet, you usually do all this pre sales behavior.
