Troubleshooting tips
- [Instructor] If you're having trouble with a VPN connection, there are a few steps to take to try to resolve the problem. The first step is to double-check which protocol your VPN provider is using, and ensure that that protocol and any associated settings are correct on your client. For some protocols, this comes down to making sure the correct encryption method is selected, and that a shared secret is typed in correctly, or that you have the correct certificate or credentials. Your next step is to check that firewalls in between the client and server are configured properly. That they're not blocking one or more of the ports that your type of VPN requires in order to setup a connection. For the protocols that use more than one port, they will all need to be opened on the server in order for the client to setup the connection.
