- Aristotle once said that teaching is the highest form of understanding. When you make a decision to teach an InfoSec concept to someone else, you move past the idea of simply repeating what other people have told you. You move past the what, and you begin exploring the how. If you dig really deep, you even explore the why. Take vulnerability management for example. A typical process starts with a vulnerability scan that results in a system-generated report. Far too often, InfoSec teams just forward those reports to sysadmins and hope for the best. If, though, you apply this idea of teaching to that process, you can download that report and review the results for yourself. A little bit of reading on your part and you'll be able to separate the stuff that matters from the stuff that can wait. Maybe you draft a quick summary email that calls out the stuff that sysadmins will likely want to address first. You might…
