Storage abstraction

- [Instructor] So when we mention storage abstraction, we're really referring to a few things. It's the ability to, in essence, put another virtual layer upon existing storage systems so we don't have to deal with the native complexities of the various storage systems out there. So ultimately if we're removing the complexities, we don't have the deal with the differences. For instance we don't have to understand the native capabilities and the feature sets of block, object and file storage. Ultimately we just stay with abstract layers and don't have to worry about how it's taken care of natively behind the scenes. So the idea is to make things simple for the people who are leveraging storage so instead of dealing directly with the native storage interfaces, we're in essence abstracting the storage, for all types of storage and therefore as technology matures and things change over time, the abstract remains the same and…
