- [Instructor] Many people upgrade their mobile devices every year or so, and when you do, it's nice to pass your older device onto a friend or family member, or you may choose to sell it or donate it to an organization that can match it with someone in need. But because mobile devices contain so much personal information, it's important to make sure that's all removed before you pass it along. The first step in doing this is to make sure you have a copy of any information you want to save from the device. Many devices sync photos, contacts, and other data to a cloud service, so they're already backed up and can easily be added to a new device. But it's a good idea to make absolutely certain. Depending on your device and the information you want to save, this may require some research. You may need to enable a backup service and let it run, or you may need to back up the device to a computer, or you may even need to explore third-party apps to back up specific kinds of information…
