- [Instructor] Phone scams are a booming business. We've probably all received unwanted calls offering to sell us something, or telling us that we've won a holiday cruise, or claiming that our computer is broken. By and large, these kinds of unsolicited calls are attempts to get personal information from you. So it's wise to be wary of them. Let's take a look at a few common phone scams. One of the most widely publicized scams in recent memory is the one where someone calls you, claiming to be from your computer manufacturer or your operating system vendor, saying that your computer has been infected or compromised, and that they can fix it for you. Sometimes, the caller is a real person and sometimes, it's a computer voice.
