RESTCONF in the Cisco environment

- [Instructor] Let's talk about RESTCONF. In recent years, REST has become very popular to exchange data between computer programs. So eventually IETF defined a REST based variant of NETCONF and that is origin for RESTCONF. RESTCONF follows the REST principle that we have discussed in the previous definite sir prep course two, such as client servers, stateless layer systems and so on. So although RESTCONF follows the general principles of REST, it is not a hundred percent REST. The body of the messages for RESTCONF could either be XML or JSON, and they do utilize the HTTP verbs to indicate their intention. There are many similarities between RESTCONF and NETCONF such as client server operations, layer systems and uniform interfaces.
