- [Narrator] In this lesson, we're going to talk a little bit about working with software, and programs, in within the Linux operating system. Now again, I'm using Ubuntu, but you can use whichever Linux you want. Now, there's a couple of things we want to talk about as we go through this operating system. First, we're sitting here on the desktop. This works very much like your Windows desktop. It's a graphical user environment where we can point and click our way through things. You'll notice, that we have the trash can in the upper left corner. Just like in Windows, you can drag things to the trash, they'll sit in there until you right click them, and then you empty the trash. Some other areas you want to look at, is up in the top you have your time and day, and then over to the right, we have our power button, which will allow us to shut down this computer.
