Privacy is contextual

- Depending on the situation, individuals may view privacy and private information differently. So I'll give you an easy example. I'm planning to meet you for coffee. I share with you my location and a time and I show up at that location. Now, if you're my friend and I'm planning a surprise party for you, I'm probably not going to share the rest of the contacts that all of our family and friends have already been informed about that same location and time and they're lying in wait to pop out and surprise you for your birthday. All of those contextual cues are different depending on the circumstance. Now that may be a small example of contextualization, but if you can think about the different use cases over time, the information that you share with your doctor, I'm hoping, is different than the information you share with all your co-workers.
