- [Instructor] Predictive policing may not be a term that you're familiar with, but it is practiced around the globe in well-known cities, like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and even London. Some of these cities have spent hundreds of thousands, even millions of dollars to implement predictive policing systems. And the popularity of this technology is growing at a rapid rate. So, what is predictive policing? It describes the process of using artificial intelligence, like machine learning, to predict crime. The technology is used in the courthouse and when officers are out on patrol. Generally, any time machine learning is used in law enforcement, it is called predictive policing.
