- [Instructor] Let's do a practice exercise now where we calculate the networks that get created when we apply a specific subnet mask to a network and determine the usable ranges of IP addresses. The range for each of those subnets. Now in this example, we're applying a 26-bit subnet mask to 192.168.0.0/24. Notice the 192 in the first octet that tells us it's a class C network and the slash 24 that's the default that's the class for mask for class C network. So the question is, what are the subjects that get created? What are the usable address ranges for each segment? Now we don't have near as many subnets in this example as we did in the prior video where we had 256 subnets. We've only got a few here and it will be good mathematical practice to go through and calculate the usable ranges of IP addresses for the subnets.
